I think a week of sickness is long enough!!

So I've been a miserable blob this week. Starting last Thursday I had a little sore throat and on Sunday i had a little fever but still went on with my usual Sunday activites, which of course included church morning and evening. Figuring, there is no better place to ask for healing than at church right?! Well i was fine at church but started to go downhill afterwards. Had a terrible night sleep and woke up Monday morning with a fever of 101. Ugh. Spent most of the day lounging around. Tuesday not much bettter, another terrible night, woke up sweating and dizzy. Fever still at 101. Spent the day in my pjs on the couch watching the nothingness on TV. My Mom took care of me for a little bit before she had to go to work, nice to be home when im sick. Eric stopped by in the morning before he went to work to pray for me to get better. It was nice to see him, made me not so miserable for a little bit. I tried resting throughout the day but the dog was freaking out about the noises coming from outside, because they are doing stuff to the water tower. Then my Dad came home, followed by my brother. So much for the nap. Showered and got out of my pjs to go pick up Eric from work since his car is sick as well. We spent the rest of the evening watching movies and such. Thanks for keeping me company!! He ended up sleeping in the basement because i was too tired to drive him home. I slept like a rock that night, woke up to no fever!!! Eric and I lounged around until like 1:00 then hung out at his place for awhile. Went to church that night and hung out afterwards. Feeling better but not perfect. Mom thinks i have a sinus infection now too. I attempted to go to work today but my head felt like it was gonna explode so I called in and they had enough staff so he told me not come in. Took a nap this afternoon. Sat with Eric on his break at work. Dinner with the family and more lounging. Ive been rather slackerish sheesh. I will be picking up the boy from work at 9ish and im sure we'll do something after that. Tomorrow is Kelsey's wedding rehearsal!! Ahh!! I am so excited that Kels and Jeff are fianlly getting married, they have waited so long for this day! Ok well enough about me heres some more randomness for ya:

They talk about modesty and why Pentecostals believe what they do about hair and clothes. The second one talks about the oneness of God. The pastor at church shared a great example of this a couple weeks ago. He asked how many men in the church were fathers, then he asked how many of those men were also sons, and how many of them were also husbands. So a man can be all three of those things, BUT only have one name. So people arent going to say something like theres Bob the son or Bob the husband. They're gonna say theres Bob. haha i just thought of that myself. So God is the Father, Son and Holy Ghost; and the Bible says the NAME of that one God is Jesus Christ. Colossians 2:9, Zechariah 14:9. Kinda hoping all of you at least think about this stuff and look at it for a couple of minutes instead of saying thats stupid and ignoring it. Expect more to come soon. Peace out world.

I Corinthians 14. Maybe you can shed some light on why this chapter seems, from an outside view, to be ignored in the Pentecostal church? I'm curious.

...if anyone speaks in a toungue, two-or three- should speak, one at a time, and someone MUST interpret. If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet int he church and speak to himself and God.

...He who speaks in a toungue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.
...try to excel in gifts that build up the church
...I thank God that I speak in toungues more than all of you. But in the church, I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others thatn ten thousand words in a tounge.

Also, I Corinthians 12: 4-31

Ok so i dont have much time to comment on this right now but i'll try my best. Kinda hoping my wonderful boyfriend has some wisdom to share as well. 1 Corinthians 14:39 also says, "Therefor my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But everything in a fit and orderly way." The Corinth church was getting out of control thats why they wrote these verses. They are not saying to not speak in tongues but to do it in an orderly manner. Verse 5 says "I would like everyone of you to speak in tongues, but would rather you prophesy" Paul wants us to speak in tongues but more often to prophesy. Ugh dont have time more to come later im sure. Happy Wedding day to Kelsey and Jeff!!

Ok here's what i have to say about this. (All KVJ version used)In the bible it talks about speaking in tounges in 3 different ways. The first time speaking in tounges is meantioned is in the book of Acts chapter 2 on the day of Pentecost (cool we are celebrating that today :). And all that were there received the Holy Ghost and it said they spoke in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. This was NOT a one time experience, but it happened many times through the book of Acts. In Acts 8 (9-20) it happens again. Verse 9 says this man used sorcery and bewitched the people and they said "This man is the great power of God" (verse 10). Yet when the Holy Ghost was poured out he saw something instantly a power ever greater than he ever showed. There is only one sign that could have been shown i'll show this with two more verses.

Acts 10 the gentiles receive the Holy Ghost (verses 44-48). While Peter yet spoke the Holy Ghost fell on the gentiles and they of the circumcision (the Jews) were astonished, because the gift of the Holy Ghost was poured out on the Gentiles and how did they know it was poured out? Next verse says, 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. This was the sign that they knew the Gentiles received the Holy Ghost.

Acts 19 Paul comes across a group of beleivers. he asked them in verse 2 "Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?" He knew they were believers but he also knew that just believing they weren't filled with the Holy Ghost. So he rebaptized them in the name of the Lord Jesus and verse 6 "...the Holy Ghost came on them, and they spake with tongues and prophesied."

This is the first way the Holy Ghost, and speaking in tongues, is talked about in the bible and it still happens today Acts 2:39 talks about the promise of the Holy Ghost and it says, "For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." Then the second way the Holy Ghost is talked about is in 1 Corinthians 14 verse 2 "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries." and the first part of verse 4 "He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself." This is the second way speaking in tongues is talked about for personal edification or personal building up of one self. Then in the next verse he starts off talking about the personal speaking in tongues and says, when you come together i would that ye speak in tongues but rather that ye prophesy.

Then the third way is a gift of the Spirit. Lets start with faith, we all have some type of faith and all have different levels of faith, but faith is also a gift of the Spirit someone can have supernatural faith. Just like speaking in tongues is shown, one as the initial evidance of receiving the Holy Ghost, two can be used in personal edification, it can also be a supernatural gift used by God to give a message to the church.

Finally, i just want to end with what Paul was trying to do in 1 Corin 14. He was trying to put order in to that Corinth church cause he said in verse 33 "For God is not the author of confusion..." then what Heather said verse 39-40, "Wherefore, brethern, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. Let all things be done decently and in order." Paul was telling the church they needed to be orderly with what they did and not be out of control cause visitors would come in and be confused. My final note he says 4 times in this passage to not stop or forbid speaking in tongues. verse 2 (speaking to God), verse 4 (I would that ye all), verse 18 (more than ye all), verse 39 (forbid not).

Thanks for reading anymore questions post here or email me hachahengaha@hotmail.com
i love questions don't be afraid to ask.

Here's what I have to say..... Speak in tongues if you wish, It is a spiritual gift, but only ONE of the gifts mentioned in the bible. NO one ever said it's not biblical and it never happened. Some people did recieve this gift, but NOT every person, and Paul most definatley did say, "I would rather speak 5 Intelligible words to instruct others than 10 thousand words in a tongue".
My gifts are not speaking in tongues, and it can not be forced on me, because someone interprets it to be something everyone should be able to do. As I read and Pray for myself, I have(myself)concluded that, speaking in tongues is rare and doesnt make you more of a Christian. It doesnt put you at another level of spitiuality.
I have a God who loves me because he made me just the way I am. I'm on this earth to serve Him, I have a personal relationship with him through Jesus Christ, and His spirit lives in me.
So what's important here...
speaking in tongues?
Wearing skirts and hair up?
Disagreeing about the Father/spirit/son as one?
The important thing is that we have a personal relationship with Jesus, that we accept him as our lord and savior so that we will live with Him forever.
It's our responsibility not to flaunt ourselves and Not to look at others lustfully. That goes for men as well as women! I dont think Jesus is checking out the clothes we are wearing as we serve him. He looks at our hearts and he sees the love we have for him. The way we act and present ourselves is more imoportant than the clothes we wear or the way we wear our hair.

Romans 12:6 We all have differnt gifts. We are to serve in accordance with the gifts we are given, we should not run after other peoples gifts!

Let me know if you have any questions, I also love to share what I have learned. God's truths are amazing, God bless. Jackie

Im tired. But heres what i gotta say..theres a difference between the GIFT of speaking in tongues and the sign that follows bein filled with the Holy Spirit. If someone has the gift, then yes there will be an interpreter and yes it is a rare gift. As far as orderly worship there is an order to our worship service (songs, prayer, offereing, choir, semon, alter)... when its time to go to the atler to pray to God should there be a limit on how we worship Him? Ok thats enough for now, y'all dislke everything i say anyway.
